ABOUT ME

Hello, I am J. Boe Ellis. The J is for Jeffrey but no one calls me Jeffrey. I am a Tampa native and Tampa resident, although I have lived in South Carolina, in North Carolina and in Boston if only briefly. It seems that God has always called me back to Tampa to be a witness for Jesus Christ here in my home town, and as a partner to some great missionaries and church planters in a bunch of places around the world.

But it wasn’t always that way for me. While, I believe that I genuinely trusted in Christ at aged 12, I was never discipled, never really surrendered everything to Christ until I was in my mid-thirties. That was in the early 2000s.

Ever since, my wife Connie and I have been trying to serve the Lord with our six kids (and three grandkids now). We moved to seminary (SEBTS.org) in 2010 to be better equipped for ministry and a life serving Christ’s church.

We have served in churches in North Carolina, in Boston, and in Tampa. We launched a missions organization (a 501c3) called Great Commission Partnerships (gcpartnerships.org) in 2021. I hope you will visit that site and connect with our ministry that is supporting church planting and Gospel multiplying ministries in seven different places locally and internationally. We are currently developing content for our new blog and podcast (gctalk.org) launching in the spring of 2026.

We also have a residential real estate brokerage that we started in 2002. God has allowed me to continue in that firm as the broker as a way to fund missions by serving a few clients and friends on a referral basis. You can visit that site here: cjellis.com.

More recently, I have served bivocationally as Transitional Interim Pastor at Manhattan Baptist Church in Tampa (manhattanbaptist.org) since January, 2024. So, If you have just stumbled onto this site, and found my recent sermons here, please know I did not post them here because I think they are any good, or because I want you to see me. My hope is that you would see Christ!

It’s just that I truly enjoy the tension and the craft of studying and preparing and preaching, and I invest a lot of time into every message that I have the privilege to preach. So, I figured I would just post them here on my blog and trust that God will use them somehow for His glory. I pray that He will.

Please feel free to connect with me any time by email.

Thanks.

Boe
